Remove & leave
Remove a teammate from your workspace, or leave a workspace yourself. The Owner can't be removed, and a sole Owner must transfer ownership first.
People come and go. You can remove a teammate from the workspace, and anyone can leave a workspace they belong to. A couple of rules protect the Owner and your billing history.
Remove a member
- Role
- OwnerAdminManager
Owner, Admin, and Manager can remove members — only those at or below your own rank. You can't remove the Owner.
Open Team settings
Go to Settings → Team and find the member.
Remove them
Remove the member. They lose access to the workspace right away.
Removing a member frees up a seat. Their past time entries and authored data stay in the workspace — see "What's kept" below.
Leave a workspace
You can leave any workspace you're a member of yourself.
Open your memberships
Go to Account → Profile → "Your memberships".
Leave
Click "Leave workspace" next to the workspace you want to leave.
When you leave: "You'll lose access immediately. An Owner can re-invite you later — your past time entries and authored data stay in the workspace."
A sole Owner can't leave (and can't be removed). If you're the only Owner, either transfer ownership to someone else first, or close the workspace from Danger zone.
What's kept
Whether someone is removed or leaves, their past time entries and authored data remain in the workspace — this keeps your billing history intact. An Owner can always re-invite them later.
Troubleshooting
- I can't remove someone. They're ranked at or above you, or they're the Owner. Neither can be removed this way.
- I can't leave. You're the sole Owner. Transfer ownership or close the workspace first.
