Start a timer from a task
Track time against a specific task with one click — from a task row, the task detail, or the top-bar timer's task step.
You can start a live timer directly from a task, so your time lands on the right project and task without extra steps.

- OwnerAdminManagerMember
Anyone who can work a task can track time on it. Members track their own time and see hours, never amounts.
Where to find it
You have three ways in:
- A timer button on a task row.
- A timer button on the task detail page.
- The top-bar timer's project picker, which also has a task step.
Start a timer
Start from the task
Click the timer button on the task row or on the task detail page. The timer starts against that project and task.
Or use the top-bar timer
Open the top-bar timer, pick the project, then the task in the task step.
Stop when done
Stop the timer to save the entry against the task.
Only one timer runs at a time. Starting a new timer follows the one-timer rule — see The one-timer rule.
What happens next
The entry is saved against the project and task. Manage your entries from the time tracking section.
