Project profitability

See hourly billing or a fixed-fee contract balance, tracked effort, and budget progress at a glance, with role-based visibility.

A project's detail page adapts its financial summary to its rate type. What you see depends on your role and plan.

Before you start
Role
OwnerAdminManager

Money and profit tiles plus budget progress are Owner, Admin, and Manager only. Members see hours only.

Where to find it

Open a project and view its Overview (the project detail page at /projects/[id]).

What you see by role

  • Owner / Admin / Manager — money and profit tiles, plus budget progress for any budget cap you've set.
  • Memberhours only. Members are money-blind, so the financial tiles are hidden.

What you see by rate type

  • Hourly — tracked and billable hours, billed value, and ready-to-invoice value at the current project rate.
  • Fixed fee — contract fee, invoiced value, Draft-reserved value, remaining value, and tracked delivery effort. Nothing is shown as an hourly value.
  • Non-billable — tracked effort without billing amounts.

An older or imported fixed-fee project shows Needs reconciliation until a Manager+ confirms the Previously invoiced opening amount from its Edit page. See Invoice fixed-fee projects.

Member utilization

Member utilization within profitability is an Agency-only feature (advanced reporting).

Utilization is available on Agency. On Free and Studio, the rest of the profitability view still works for manage-tier roles.

What happens next

Use profitability alongside budgets to spot projects that are trending over, and the reports section for workspace-wide views.
