Payments
How invoices get paid — online card payments via Stripe Connect into your own account, plus manual offline payments and refunds.
A payment settles an invoice — the final link in the Clients → Projects → Tasks → Time → Invoices → Payment chain. Hoursmith supports paying online by card and recording payments you take offline.
Money lands in your own account
Online card payments run through Stripe Connect direct charges straight into your own Stripe account. Hoursmith never holds or routes your funds — the money goes directly to you.
Card payments are a paid feature; connecting Stripe unlocks them. Manual and offline payments are available on every plan, so you can always record a bank transfer or cash payment by hand. See Connect Stripe and Record manual payments.
Payment methods per invoice
You choose which payment methods an invoice offers — bank transfer and/or card — and can attach an optional percentage card fee to pass card costs along. See Payment methods.
Refunds
Payments can be refunded in full or in part. Refunds are limited to the Owner and Admin roles, and move the invoice's payment status to refunded. See Refunds.
Members never see payments, amounts, or invoices — paying and refunding are manage-tier actions. See Money-blindness.
