Client balances

See a client's tracked time, invoices, and the amount that's ready to invoice from billable un-invoiced time.

The client detail page is where you check where a client stands: how much time you've tracked, what you've invoiced, and what's ready to invoice right now.

Role
OwnerAdminManager

These financials are manage-tier only. Members are money-blind and have no client access.

Where to find it

Open a client from the Clients list to land on its detail page (/clients/[id]).

What the page shows

  • Tracked time — the time logged against this client's projects.
  • Invoices — the invoices you've raised for this client.
  • Ready to invoice — an amount derived from the client's billable, un-invoiced time. This is what you'd bill if you created an invoice right now.

Turn "ready to invoice" into an invoice

When the ready to invoice amount looks right, raise an invoice for the client:

Start a new invoice

Open the invoice builder at Invoices → New invoice and pick this client. The builder is pre-filtered to the client and pulls in their billable, un-invoiced time.

Review and create

Choose grouping, check the totals, and create the draft. Full walkthrough: Create an invoice.

Hoursmith doesn't keep a separate credit balance or statement of account for clients. The figures here are computed from the client's actual time and invoices, and money math is exact.

Tips

  • The ready to invoice amount only counts billable time that hasn't been invoiced yet. Non-billable time and already-invoiced time don't appear.
