Enable portal access
Control which client contacts can sign in to the portal with the per-contact "Portal enabled" toggle.
You decide exactly which client contacts can use the portal. Access is controlled per contact with the Portal enabled toggle on the client form.

- OwnerAdmin
The portal needs a Studio or Agency plan. Only an Owner or Admin can change a contact's portal access.
Turn on access for a contact
Open the client
From Clients, open the client and click Edit.
Find the contact
In the contacts list, find the person who should have portal access. (Each contact needs an email — that's what they'll sign in with.)
Toggle Portal enabled
Switch Portal enabled on for that contact. Turn it off for anyone who should receive invoice emails but not sign in to the portal.
Save
Click Save. The contact can now request a magic-link sign-in at the portal login page.
Only contacts whose email matches an enabled contact in your workspace can sign in. If the toggle is off, the magic-link page won't send that email a link. Full contact details are in Client contacts.
What an enabled contact can do
Once enabled and signed in, a contact sees only their own invoices in your workspace and can pay them online (when payments are set up). See View and pay invoices.
Troubleshooting
- A contact says they can't get in. Confirm Portal enabled is on and the email matches exactly. See Client portal troubleshooting.
